Langebaan Weekend Getaway

The West Coast National Park

The West Coast National Park surrounds the southern reaches of the lagoon from just south of Langebaan town itself. There are several bird hides which are fantastic for any keen bird photographers.

In spring (August & September), Postberg Nature Reserve comes alive with Namaqualand Daisies and is one of the best examples of the carpets of flowers that cover the north western Cape every year for a few weeks.

You can get to the West Coast National Park very easily either at its south gate from the R27 about 30 minutes from Langebaan, or at the north gate, minutes south of the only road that leads south out of Langebaan village.

A great place to go for lunch is Geelbek, a farm in the park about a twenty minute drive from Langebaan. Geelbek is right on the most southern and wild point of the lagoon.

Another fun thing to consider is to Rent a Langebaan Houseboat for a weekend at Kraal Bay for a real escape. It is the perfect place to relax and base yourself whilst exploring the West Coast National Park.
